He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gellings and Christine Gellings (Wittmers); his parents-in-law, Ernest Ralph Hayden and Marie Helen Hayden; his brother Herm; his siblings-in-law, Bev Gellings, Dena Hayden and Tom Hayden; and his granddaughter Carly Bott.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Hayden; his daughters, Amy Bocek (Eric) and Lori Lavery (Dennis); his grandchildren, Brianna Chadwell, Kyle Chadwell (Miranda), Amber Poli (Nolan), Ashleigh Nordstrom and Logan Bott (Chasity); his great grandchildren, Braxton, Easton, Grayson, Mason, Layton Bott and Emerald Chadwell; his siblings, Christine Gellings, Marie Yutendale (Dick), Marge Jones (Tom), Rob Gellings (Sandy), Dan Gellings (Kerrie) and Tim Gellings (Linda); his siblings-in-law, John Hayden, David Hayden (Joy), Steven Hayden (Kim), Mark Hayden (Cheri), Karen Fron (Chris) and Katy Graunstadt (Dan); and his pets, Buddy and Molly. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Sharp Funeral Homes - Miller Road Chapel (8138 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek, MI 48473). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel (8138 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek, MI 48473). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Great Lakes National Cemetery (4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442).
Burial will be Thursday, October 15, at 1:30 p.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, with arrival at 1:15 p.m. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions in John's memory to The Michael J.
