She was predeceased by: her parents, Percy Rankin and Mary Rankin; her husband Clarence Oates; and her brothers, Robert Ledd Rucker and C. W. Rankin (Christopher).
She is survived by: her children, Karlnell Thomason, King Thomason IV (Shelby) and Davita Ricks (Travis); her grandchildren, Justin Keating (Lauren), King Thomason (Kam), Kaitlyn Bolar (Marco), Kourtney Thomason, Shea Thomason, Dion Thomason, Haley Thomason, Ariana Johnson (Ke'Von), Jessica Travis, Travis Ricks III, Tremaine Ricks and Chikai Ricks; her great grandchildren, Liam Keating, Maddie Keating, King Thomason VI and Nala Thomason; her goddaughter Tamara McNair-Hicks; her close friends, Curley Mae Bell, Emma, Mike Turner, Thomas, Debra McNair, Dorothea Jackson, Marcia, Skip Jefferson, Dharamraj Singh, Brewster Beavers and Pearline Parks; and her daughter-in-law Shelby Thomason. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
