He was predeceased by: his parents, Clair Thelen and Margaret Thelen; and his brother Gerard Thelen. He is survived by: his siblings, Mary Jane Boak (Duane), Joanne Olin (Jim), Patrick Thelen, Rosanne Davis (Gerry), Geralyn Bajis (Jordan), Therese (Jim) and Chris Thelen (Joanne). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant View Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility - specified for the dialysis unit or St. Mary's Foundation (Kidney Transplant Program).
