Michael Gerard Heiler Obituary
In Loving Memory of Michael Gerard Heiler..... It is with continued sadness that we recall the passing of Michael Gerard Heiler, who suddenly departed this world on July 1, 2023, due to heart problems. He was 62 years old. Born on October 24, 1960 to Theodore and the late Kathleen Heiler, Michael grew up in Redford Township, Michigan. He attended Redford Union High School and Oakland Community College. He loved rock and roll, and country music, and played the guitar. In the most recent years, he enjoyed being in the real estate business.
It was not unusual for Mike to strap his rowboat atop his pickup truck so that he could row his lady client across the backyard pond on the estate he was trying to sell. After all, this offered the best view of the estate. Or you might find him and his client on ATVs to best check out a 10-acre lot for sale. Mike thought "outside the box" yet always provided clients with the most ethical solutions. He was hard-working, knowledgeable, respectful, kind, honest, trustworthy, optimistic, humble, and unique.
He was friendly and receptive to others. Mike Heiler was a cherished family member, a member of the Fowlerville community, and a beloved friend to many. Mike loved to tell a good story – sprinkled with an embellishment or two. He enjoyed a cold beer at Cleary's or sitting in his peaceful backyard at day's end. Mike lived in Fowlerville because he liked the people and the country-style living. He had horses he loved to ride, German Shepherds, and barn kittens. In his younger years, he coached baseball. He always took time to help his neighbors and be a good friend.
Mike had a big heart. He once picked up a homeless man, fed him, and gave him money for a motel. His life reflected his deep belief in God and the Bible – which he often taught others and quoted. He was a member of his local church – one chosen for being down to earth – a church where he felt accepted and encouraged to be a better man. Northern Michigan, the Great Lakes and Rivers, and Bishop Lake in Brighton were among Mike's favorite places. Camping "up North" was his Ritz Carlton. To Mike, the best way to end the workday was to kayak or swim in Bishop Lake.
Mike leaves behind his wife, Andrea of many years and his beloved son, Dustin (Jade). He is survived by his father, Theodore Heiler (Martha), and his sisters: Colleen Contrada (the late Joe), Christine Jacobs (Jerry), Margaret Gyorffy (the late Robert), Carrie Boyer (Todd) ; and nieces and nephews: Emily Contrada Young, Joseph Contrada, Ryan Jacobs, Katalyn Gyorffy, Christopher Boyer, Andrew Boyer, and Benjamin Boyer; and lots of cousins. Mike had many life-long friends who treasured him, and wonderful mentors in the real estate business,
He will be greatly missed by all that knew him and shared all that was "Mike".
