Gretchen Rau Obituary
With sadness, we share the passing of Gretchen Rau of Frankenmuth, Michigan. Gretchen, born on July 9, 1936, passed away on September 29, 2026. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Gretchen Rau to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Abbey and Ruth Abbey (Lewis); her siblings, Laura Lee Freed Sugerman, Thomas (Marilyn Abbey) and James Abbey; her brothers-in-law, William Burrows (Arleen Rau), Gene Freed and Jerry Rau (Diane); and her husband Robert.
She is survived by: her sons, Terry Scott and Thomas Neil; her sister Nancy Ruth Burrows of Gagetown, MI.; her sisters-in-law, Maxine Higgins and Sandra Nauss (Clifford) of Frankenmuth; and her grandchildren, Jonathan, Christopher Rau of Mattawan, Thomas (Ann), Abigail of Birch Run and Evan of Saginaw Township.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. John's Lutheran Church (1200 E Genesee St, Frankenmuth, MI 48734). A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
