It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James Shetlar MD of Frankenmuth, Michigan, who passed away on September 30, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Shetlar and Dorothy Shetlar; and his brother Martin Shetlar (Margie). He is survived by: his wife Janet Cook; his children, Amy Jimenez (Jimmy) of Gilbert, AZ, Marisa Burghdoff (Mike) of Everett, WA, Mike Shetlar (Jennifer) of Phoenix, AZ, Sarah Schumm of San Francisco, CA, Tom Schumm of Portland, OR, David Schumm of County Clare and James Shetlar II of Frankenmuth; and his sister Anne Rush (Phil).
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, October 4th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Lorenz Lutheran Church (1030 W Tuscola St, Frankenmuth, MI 48734).
In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Foundation or the Frankenmuth Rotary.
