It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Gilbert (Frankfort, Michigan), who passed away on June 19, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Orlo Fitzhugh and Goldie Fitzhugh; her in-laws, Alice and Floyd Gilbert; and her siblings, Lee Fitzhugh and Joyce Schroeder.
She is survived by: her husband Jim (Jim); her children, Roger Gilbert (Sarah) of Mt. Pleasant and Marilyn Schmitt (Fred) of Marne; her brothers, Ken Fitzhugh (Betty) and Jay Fitzhugh (Connie); her siblings-in-law, Joyce Howard (Ed) and Carroll Gilbert; her grandchildren, Dan Schmitt (Diane), Brian Schmitt (Courtney), Angie Schmitt, Jim Gilbert and Kory Elizabeth Weldon; her great grandchildren, Wyatt and Colton Card; and her grandchildren, Peyton Schmitt, Gabriel, Alexis, Allison Gilbert and Lily Schmitt.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Herring Lake Baptist Church (4433 S Scenic Hwy, Frankfort, MI 49635). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 27th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Munson Healthcare Hospice or Herring Lake Baptist Church.
