He was predeceased by: his father John Mertes Sr.; and his stepmother Judy Mertes. He is survived by: his siblings, Barbara Henry, Lisa Nisch (Jeff), Barry Mertes and Richard Mertes (Cindy); and his mother Beryl Kammer. He is also survived by 2 nieces, 2 nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews.
