He was predeceased by: his parents, William Wadsworth Hunter and Theresa Mae Hunter (Churchill); his siblings, William Hunter (Gloria), Robert Hunter, Thomas Hunter (Pauline) and Mary Mae Berghoff (George); his parents-in-law, John and Anna Wolf; and his siblings-in-law, Helen Imberi (Ben), Lawrence Wolf (Florence), Theresa Imberi (Ben), Pauline Rohrich (Tony) and Paul Wolf (Helen).
He is survived by: his wife Frances Marie Hunter of Sacramento; his children, Debra Lutz (William) of Linwood, Michigan, Richard J. Hunter (Patty) of Dallas, Texas, Jennifer Lazarz (Dave) of Freeland, Michigan, Jacqueline Herring (Randy) of Freeland, Michigan and Mike Hunter of Boynton Beach, Florida.; his grandchildren, Christopher Lutz (Morgan), Danielle Lutz, Maryssa Wright (Branson), Zachary Hunter (Caitlin), Alex Hunter (Emily Schultz), Taylor Herring (Ned Moreland), Michelle Herring, Sydney Herring, Mason Herring, David Lazarz and Katie Lazarz; his great grandchildren, Jesse, Rylan Lutz and Luca Hunter; and his in-laws, Magdeline Saunders, Pius Wolf (Kathy) and JoAnne Hunter. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Agnes Catholic Church (300 Johnson St, Freeland, MI 48623). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at the United States Air Force and American Legion Post 439 (5190 Weiss St, Saginaw, MI 48603).
