He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Smith and Nellie Smith (Canniff); his wife Esther (Akershoek); his daughter Marcia Rottier; his son-in-law Micheal Moore; his great grandchildren, Isabelle Worth and Zachary Willea; and his brothers, Darryl, Donald and Raymond Smith.

He is survived by: his children, Darla Moore, Douglas Smith (Linda), David Smith (Beverly), Wanda Dickinson (David) and Amy Smith; and his son-in-law Andrew Rottier. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, & 2 great-great grandchildren; and by many nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to First Reformed Church.
