He is survived by: his parents, Cody Vela and Aly Vela (Howe); his friend Sawyer Gipson-Long; his sister Alyssa Vela; his grandfathers, Scott Westfield (Joni) and Greg Howe (Sue); his great-grandparents, Thomas Joiner (Janet), Janice Joiner and Doug Redman (Linda); his aunts, Emily McCrary (David) and Seana Vela; his uncle Trevor Vela; and his cousins, Adelaide, Ameila and Oliver.
