He was predeceased by: his parents, James M. "Cecil" Lafler and Neva "June" Josephine Lafler (Taylor); his daughter Barbara; and his siblings, James Lafler, Thomas Lafler and Joan Sleeman.

He is survived by: his spouse Robin Lynn (Bacon); his children, Tammy Koupal (John), Robert G. Lafler (Jennifer), Jonathon D. Lafler, Richard "Rick" G. Lafler, Jr. (Melissa) and Matthew D. Lafler (Kayla); his grandchildren, Michael (Shae), Haley, Abbey (Collin), Paige, Miles, Boone, Jessica, Bobby, Madalyn, Taryn and Inara; his great grandchildren, Chase, Cash and Willow; his goddaughter Molly Beale (Dan); and his brother Willard (Maisie). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, through the funeral home.
