Carleton L. Mancier Obituary
Carl Mancier, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, community member, and faithful man of God, entered into his eternal reward and the loving arms of his daughter, Kristie (who passed away on February 20, 2022), on October 16, 2026. He was 78 years old.
Carl was born on May 18, 1948, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Eugene and Alice Mancier. He honorably served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army's 11th Infantry, E Troop, 1st Cavalry Regiment. As a proud paratrooper, he earned his Silver Wings, a testament to his bravery and dedication.
Upon returning home, Carl built a beautiful life centered around family and community. On June 26, 1971, he married the true love of his life, Cheryl Stuemke, in Davisburg, Michigan. Their marriage was a testament to their deep commitment; Carl adored Cheryl completely, ensuring she wanted for nothing and giving her the world. Together, they raised two children, Kristie and Kevin.
An ambitious entrepreneur, Carl founded his own manufacturing business, which he successfully operated for over 40 years. He was an excellent provider, and though he eventually retired and passed the torch to his son, Kevin, Carl never truly left the industry behind. He cherished his role as an advisor and genuinely loved staying connected with his manufacturing community.
Carl's heart was biggest when he was serving others and spending time at his beloved lake house—the very property he retired to after years of building it from the ground up. With hard work and vision, he transformed what was once a humble two-bedroom cabin into a large, joyful retreat built for family and friends to gather and have fun. A man who was generous to a fault, his home had an open-door policy where no one was ever a stranger. While he filled the property with an incredibly long list of toys, from jet skis to pontoon boats, Carl's greatest joy wasn't using them himself; it was encouraging others to eat, laugh, play, and have fun. He took immense pride in his home and his breathtaking gardens, which earned official recognition and awards from the Master Gardeners in 2015.
His beautiful garden and culinary talents fueled a deep passion for community service. Every year, Carl and Rev. Cheryl would bake thousands of Christmas cookies—highly anticipated and treasured treats crafted with love and care. Carl held an unwavering trust, respect, and adoration for the people who defend and serve their country and communities. In the summer, he would visit the local sheriff's office weekly to deliver fresh, hand-picked flowers from his garden to the secretaries, and he returned in the winter to deliver tray after tray of his famous holiday cookies.
Known as the ultimate "king of one-liners," Carl loved to shout out a joke at any given moment to absolutely anyone. His humor was matched only by his loud, resonant voice in his church choir. Above all else, Carl was a man of God. His faith was his anchor, and his booming voice could be heard singing praises no matter where you stood in the sanctuary.
Carl is survived by his wife, the Reverend Cheryl Mancier; his son, Kevin (Rebecca) Mancier; his three grandsons, Austin Fearn, Jacob Holoday, and Joshua Fultz; and his three great-grandchildren, Nora Holoday, and Greyson and Carter Fultz. He is also survived by his brothers, Don and Tim, and his sisters, Elaine and Ruthanne, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kristie Mancier (d. February 20, 2022); and his brothers, Bill and Arthur.
Carl will be deeply missed but never forgotten. We take comfort in knowing he has entered heaven, wrapped in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, and reunited with his daughter, Kristie, where they will peacefully wait for us all to join them.
