Carolyn Marie Clover, age 83, of Gladwin, passed away peacefully at her home in Gladwin on June 12, 2026. She was born on October 24, 1942, in Gladwin to the late Marvin and Doris (Parker) Porter. Carolyn lived a life marked by devotion to her family, quiet strength, and a gentle spirit that touched the lives of those who knew her.
On July 5, 1958, she married Donald Clover in Gladwin, and together they shared many years of life and family until his passing in 1998. Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured the people closest to her. Her family was the center of her world, and she gave of herself with patience, kindness, and unwavering care. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Staley and Donna Smith, along with three grandchildren and one great-grandson, all of whom brought her great joy and pride.
Carolyn was also blessed with a large and loving family of siblings. She is survived by Shirley Clayton, Roger Porter, Larry and Sue Porter, Michelle and Robert McAulay, and Charles Porter. She was preceded in death by her daughters Sara and Kathy, her stepmother Laura Buzzell, and her siblings Lloyd Porter, Katherine Wheeler, Inez Walton, William Porter, Richard Porter, Ron Porter, Jim Porter, and Jerry Porter. The bonds she shared with her family remained an important part of her life throughout the years, and she carried their love with her always.
In her working years, Carolyn was known as a baker for Bill's Grocery in Durand, where her care and dedication were reflected in the work she did each day. She also devoted much of her life to caring for her family, a role she embraced with love and commitment. Whether she was working, tending to her home, or spending time with those she loved, Carolyn approached life with a steady and thoughtful heart.
Carolyn found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She enjoyed making crafts, crocheting, and gardening, and these interests reflected her creative and nurturing nature. She took pride in creating beauty with her hands and in caring for the world around her. Those who knew Carolyn will remember her as loving, gentle, and thoughtful, qualities that were evident in the way she lived and in the way she treated others.
