Cynthia M. Dawson Obituary

Cynthia "Cindy" M. Dawson, a beacon of love and wisdom, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, at the Gladwin Nursing Center. Born on December 21, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Leonard and Catherine (Madden) Berkau, Cindy was a cherished soul who brought joy and warmth to all who knew her.

Cindy's early years in Huntington Woods, Michigan were filled with the laughter and camaraderie of a large and loving family. She was the beloved sister to Marty, Chris, Jimmy, Billy and Ray Berkau, who continue to honor her memory. Her life was further blessed with the union to her devoted husband, Charles Gary Dawson, who preceded her in death on October 16, 2004. Their love was a testament to commitment and partnership, and together they raised a beautiful family. Cindy was a proud and loving mother to Jamie (Mary) Dawson and Michelle (Joe) Dawson-Augustine. Her role as a grandmother to Cassidy, Nickles, Charles, and Victoria was one she cherished deeply. Though she was preceded in death by her daughter Stacey Dawson and her sisters Kathy Latie and Margie Hull, Cindy's legacy of love endures in the hearts of those she left behind.

Cindy's professional life was marked by a successful career at Michigan Bell Telephone, where she retired after years of dedicated service. Her colleagues remember her as not only a hardworking and reliable employee but also as a friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of wisdom.

Beyond her work, Cindy had a zest for life that was contagious. She relished her trips to the casino, where she shared laughter and good times with friends and family. Her green thumb was evident in the vibrant flower beds that surrounded her home, a testament to her nurturing spirit. But above all, Cindy's greatest joy was found in the company of her beloved grandchildren, with whom she created countless cherished memories.
