Jean Foerster Obituary

Jean Foerster, Troy, Michigan, Formerly of Gladwin, MichiganJean Foerster, born on May 3, 1931, in the small town of White House, Tennessee, to the late Van McCoy and Ezma (Escue) Jones, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, at Optalis Health in Troy, Michigan. Her life was a testament to love, family, and faith, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Jean's journey began as the beloved daughter of Van and Ezma, where she grew up surrounded by the warmth of a close-knit family. On May 20, 1950, she married the love of her life, Harold Foerster, in Roseville. Their union was a beautiful example of devotion and companionship until Harold's passing on February 12, 2016. Together, they created a home filled with love and laughter, a haven for family and friends alike.

Before starting her family, Jean worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell, a role that showcased her natural ability to connect with people. Once she became a wife and mother, she dedicated her life to nurturing her family, always providing a warm and welcoming home. They enjoyed the serene beauty of Lake St. Clair and the joy of hosting family reunions, leaving everyone with fond memories of her famous spaghetti.

Jean was also known for her love of snowmobiling, an activity that brought her great excitement and adventure. Her musical talents were evident as she sang with her sisters and lifted her voice in song at church, sharing her faith through melody and harmony.

Jean's gentle spirit and faith-filled heart were the cornerstones of her life. She was a loving figure to her family, survived by her three nephews, Michael Thomas, Timothy Thomas, and Robert Perkins; three nieces, Patricia Sheldon, Susan Bruce, and Vicki Sigler; along with 14 great-nieces and nephews and eight great-great-nieces and nephews. One of their last cherished memories with Aunt Jean was sharing her love of a McDonald's milkshake, a simple pleasure that brought great joy.

Preceded in death by her daughter Karen Foerster and three sisters, Dorothy Perkins, Patsy Ballor, and Mary Cartwright, Jean leaves behind a legacy of love and the sweet melody of her life that will continue to resonate with all who were blessed to know her.

Jean's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, service, and joy. Her memory will be held dear in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her gentle, loving presence. As we say farewell to Jean Foerster, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of the grace and kindness that she so freely gave to the world. Her spirit will forever be a guiding light for those she leaves behind.
