He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, John Sr. Weiss and Lydia Weiss (Fisch); his children, Sherry Harley, John Weiss, Linda Weiss and David Weiss; his grandchildren, Melissa, Andrew and Alex; his sisters, Barbara and Marjie; his wife Gloria (Thweatt); and his sister Dorothy Wilson. He was also cherished by several great-grandchildren.

Kathy Harris lit a candle

“I am saddened to hear of Johns passing. He and my husband Ken Harris grew up together in Detroit. Sadly, Ken passed away 2/22. I had been trying to reach John by phone for more than a year without success. My sincere condolences to Johns family. John was instrumental in starting yearly reunions with us and Ken Weston. Good memories.”
