Marjorie J. Songer Obituary
Marjorie "Margie" Songer, a beacon of laughter and love, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at the age of 94 in Gladwin, Michigan. Born on June 14, 1931, in Lincoln Park, Michigan, to the late Ernie & Violet (Truesdell) Brousseau. She was the youngest of four children, a sharpshooter with a rifle (novice award winner), and fishing enthusiast. Margie was a proud graduate of Lincoln Park High School, class of 1948.
On February 14, 1953, she married the love of her life Robert Songer. Their family grew to include their cherished children, Gregory (Denise), Diane (Dave) DeWindt, Denise (Danny) Arini, Jeffrey (Supharat) Songer, and Julie (Chris) Wybrecht. Margie's role as a mother was one she treasured deeply, infusing her children's lives with laughter, creativity, and boundless love. Her legacy continued to blossom with the addition of her beloved grandchildren, Sean, Stephanie, Deana, Nate, Christina, Anthony, Ashley, Shelby, Jared, and Erin, 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to her heart.
Professionally, Margie was known for her dedication as a school bus driver for Utica Schools. Beyond her work, she was a homemaker, a girl scout leader whose guidance inspired young minds, and affectionately known as a chipmunk whisperer, reflecting her unique and whimsical spirit.
She enjoyed bowling, was a card-playing aficionado, loved fishing, avid golfer, a cunning pool shark, ceramics, painting, and was a creator of board games. Her love for animals was profound, and her ability to dance in the rain was a testament to her philosophy of finding joy in every moment.
Margie was preceded in death by her sister Katherine, brothers, Frank and Robert, who welcomed her with open arms into eternal peace. Her life was a beautiful reflection of the love she had for her family and the world around her. As we say farewell to Marjorie Songer, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a legacy of love, and a memory that will forever bring a smile to our faces.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Kieran Catholic Church 53600 Mound Rd, Shelby Township, Michigan 48316, with Fr. Joe Mallia presiding, with a luncheon to follow. Inurnment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
