Mary Sue Pratt Obituary

Mary Sue Pratt, age 84, passed away on January 30, 2026, in Gladwin, Michigan.

She was born on September 5, 1941, in Sikeston, Missouri, to Barney Abraham Pennington and Mary Ruby Campbell. Mary Sue was raised in rural southeastern Missouri, where she developed the strength, spirit, and kindness that remained with her throughout her life.

Mary Sue was a loving and friendly woman who valued her family and relationships. She is survived by her children: Timothy McDowell of Gladwin, Michigan; Dwayne (Victoria) McDowell of Bitely, Michigan; and Ron (Anna) McDowell of Mt. Morris, Michigan. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by her brothers, Ace (Pat) Pennington and Jim (Kathy) Pennington, both of West Plains, Missouri.

Mary Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Barney Abraham Pennington and Mary Ruby Campbell, and her sister, Ruth Lucille Carter.

In her quieter moments, Mary Sue found joy in watching old westerns and karate movies, interests she enjoyed so much that she named her pet fish "Bruce" and "Chuck.". These small details reflect her playful spirit and sense of humor, which will be fondly remembered.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family appreciates the kindness and support extended to them during this time.
