He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Grimes and Kathleen Grimes (Ross); his daughter Angela Grimes; his brother Frank Grimes; and his son-in-law Dale Foster Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Lee Grimes; his children, Sarah Foster (Chris McLeish), Anna Middleton (Kyle) and Kristopher Grimes (Le); his grandchildren, Alexandria Hayward, Elijah Fitzpatrick, Adam Hillier, Tyler Grimes, Collin Foster, Owen Foster and Monroe Middleton; and his siblings, Gary Grimes (Judy), Sandra Krahner (Dale), Marlene Haines (Roger), Cheryl Perkins (Darrel), Linda Schilling and Bob Anderson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice in West Branch in memory of Randy.
