He is survived by: his former wife Carol Jensen; his close friend Ben; his wife Cherrie Stege; his children, Melanie Stege Fix (Jerome), Karen Stege, Brenda Knapp Kigar (Brian), Gretchen Knapp Hice (John) and Christopher Knapp (Belinda); his grandchildren, Alexandra Ramírez Stege, Alyssa Myers Ramírez (Whitaker), Fritz Kigar (Samantha), Clifford Kigar, Emma Weinman (Dakota), Zach Robinson, Ava Knapp, Elke Knapp and Benjamin Knapp; his great grandchildren, Samantha Flores Ramírez, Theodora Ramírez Cabrera and Owen Kigar; his siblings, Mary Freeman (Paul), Thomas Stege (Suzy) and Ann Anderson (Phelps); Jay Berwanger.
