He is survived by : his stepdaughter Rachael Gilmour. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

Karl Gagnon wrote a sympathy message

“Oscar is my Uncle. His sister, Lola, was my mother. I think the last time I saw Uncle Oscar was over 50 years ago. I got his number and called. My Cousin Carla answered. We talked a bit and then I got a chance to talk to my Uncle. I immediately remembered his voice and we talked for a while until he got tired. His voice flooded my heart with memories of my mom and family. I will remember that call for the rest of my life. Thanks Oscar. Say hi to my mom in heaven. Rest In Peace.”
