He was predeceased by: his parents, John Reynolds Smith and Cammie Alarie (Peeper); his stepfather Harold "Hal" Alarie; Pete Protsman. He is survived by: his wife Marie Verdoux; his daughters, Ashley Smith and Courtney Houtman (Matthew); his grandchild Collins Houtman; his sister Deborah Middleton; his nieces, Andrea Gage (Shawn) and Allison Middleton (Michael Lonsberry); his great-niece Addison Gage; and his great-nephew Bennett Lonsberry.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
