He was predeceased by: his parents, Teddy Q. Simpson and Ruth J. Kissel (Miller); and his parents-in-law, Burton and Ruth Wheeler. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Jane Wheeler; his children, Todd Simpson (Trisha) of Bloomfield Hills and Stephanie Martens (Joshua) of Royal Oak; his grandchildren, Gavin Simpson, Shea Simpson and Hank Martens; and his siblings, Susan Simpson Gregor (Bill), Christine Simpson Noteware (John) and Tedd Simpson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
