He was predeceased by: his mother Phyllis Styx; his sisters, Phyllis Leatherman (Vern) and Beatrice Rogelski (Floyd); and his siblings-in-law, Jim, Don, Marinus Schippers, Nina Otto, Alice Polizh and Tillie Spangler.

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Schippers; his son Jason Styx (Megan) of Brookfield, IL; his grandsons, Neil and Peter; his child Lynn Thompson (Horace) of Big Rapids; his grandsons, Brian and John; his stepsons, Bruce and Jon Brosseit; and his sisters-in-law, Pat Bekins (Howard) and Edna Schut. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army-Grand Haven or a charity of donor choice.
