He was predeceased by: his parents, Meredith Hitsman and Anna Hitsman (Coveny); his wife Rose Yahne; and his brothers, George, Meredith, Edward and Jerome Hitsman.

He is survived by: his children, Malissa Cook (Donald), Brenda Twa, Jack Hitsman and Gordon Hitsman (Jamie); and his brothers, Larry Hitsman and Dennis Hitsman Sr.. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
