He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Candela and Mary Candela; and his brother Edward Candela. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia; his children, Molly Culhane (Jim), Eric Candela (Laura), Kenneth Candela (Georgieanne), Nora McKee (Max) and Nicholas Candela (Angela); his grandchildren, Caitlin, Ryan, Chandler, Olivia (Vaughn), Regina, Vincent, Maria and Caroline; his brothers, John Candela (Janet) and Michael Candela (Sang); his son Ken Candela (Georgieanne); and his great grandchild Quinton.
