It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lewis DeYoung of Grand Haven, Michigan, who passed away on January 3, 2026, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay DeYoung and Ruth DeYoung (Lucas); and his sister Judith Mischler. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Hoekstra; his children, Suzan Reenders (Michael), Kelli Shanty (Richard) and Scott DeYoung (Pam); his grandchildren, Jennifer Black, Connor DeYoung, Lauren Dahms, Jessie Chittenden, Courtney Glavich, Audrey Reenders-Arens, Lindsey Dykstra, Codi D'Avignon, Ethan Reenders, Adam Shanty and Brent Shanty; his siblings, Sharon Zant, Jr. (Don), Darwin DeYoung (Donna) and Gordon DeYoung (Paula); and his brother-in-law Al Hoekstra (Joyce). He is also survived by 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
