He was predeceased by: his mother Frances Josie Kooi; his former wife Margo Baker; and his siblings, Elaine Donselar (Henry) and Wayne Kooi (Char). He is survived by: his wife Patti Jayne Walter; his children, William Kooi (Jacqueline), Lhonda Kooi and Malissa Heethuis (Bob); his grandchildren, Blake Kooi (Becky), Travis Kooi (Liz), Arielle Rumburger (Justin) and Khailen Kooi; his great grandchildren, Waverly, Willem, Asher, Silas and Tovah; and his siblings-in-law, David Walter (Brenda), Joni Hoyer (Joel) and Lisa Borchardt (Carl). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. John's Lutheran Church (527 Taylor Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
