He was predeceased by: his parents, Warren Spangenberg and Bertha Spangenberg (Simmons); and his siblings, Clifford Spangenberg, Raymond Spangenberg and Marian Hill.

He is survived by: his wife Rev. Carol Spangenberg; his children, Tamara Newton (Mark), Christine Strukel (Matt) and David Spangenberg (Suzanne); his grandchildren, Brooke Strukel (Patrick Vu), Ashlee Minnich (Kevin), Nickolas Roussey (Paige), Anthony Strukel, Alexander Haas, Vanessa Spangenberg, Aaron Spangenberg and Elizabeth Haas; his great grandchildren, Gabriel and Josephine Minnich; and his sister-in-law Marilyn Spangenberg. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
