He was predeceased by : his parents, Wayne Bates and Ann Gries; and his sisters, Robin Geddert and Ashley Anderson. He is survived by : his wife Kathryn; his children, Brittnei Torgerson (Rex), Johnathan "Blaize" Geddert and McKyleigh Geddert; his grandchildren, Jade and Delaney Torgerson; his siblings, Wayne Bates (Denise), Tina Bates, Mark Bates (Kristine) and Sam Geddert; his stepmother Gayle Bates; his mother-in-law Alice Wixson; and his sister-in-law Kiki Wixson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
