He was predeceased by: his son Daniel Smith; his wife Doris Smith; and his siblings, Yvonne Smith, William Smith, Gordon Smith (Caroline) and Henry Smith (Pat).
He is survived by: his friend Bernie; his children, Dave Smith, Rick Smith (Kathy) and Judy Smith; his grandchildren, Brett Parent (Dana), Morgan Sneller (Ben), Nolan Smith, Derek Smith, Deanna King (Pat) and Nina Smith; his great grandchildren, Lotte, Thijs and Cruz; his sister-in-law Eleanor Smith; and his close friends, Bill, Elva Hirsch and Ann Wierzbicki. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Spirit Church (2230 Lake Michigan Drive NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504).
