With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Bernie Zouwen (Grand Rapids, Michigan), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 28, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Joyce Vander Zouwen; his son Dan Vander Zouwen; his parents, John Zouwen and Eda Vander Zouwen; and his sister Dorothy Van Dyke.
He is survived by: his children, Bryan II, Mimi Vander Zouwen, Joni, John DeNeef, Amy and Roland Hart; his grandchildren, Heidi Vander Zouwen, Major Melodie Anderson (Major Daniel), Stephanie Vander Zouwen (Nick Weiner), Bryan III, Vander Zouwen, Evianna Vander Zouwen, Becky Murphy (CJ), Kelly DeNeef (Jake Naessens) and Niki Dyke (Jeff); his great grandchildren, Nora, Naomi, Oliver Murphy, Caroline Dyke, Ryan and Logan Hough; his brother Jack Vander Zouwen (Barbara); and his brother-in-law Marvin VanDyke (Barb).
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 5th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Monday, October 6th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First Evangelical Covenant Church (1933 Tremont Blvd NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504).
