He was predeceased by: his parents, David McDowell and Ellen McDowell Sr.; his siblings, Betty Martin, Sally Sampson, Eileen Betcher, Pauline Crawford and John McDowell; his parents-in-law, Richard and Laura Johnson; his sisters-in-law, Betty Kaminski and Bonnie Jackson; and his nieces and nephews, Craig Jackson, Janys VandeVort, Michael Jackson and Denise Zimmerman.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley McDowell; his children, Richard McDowell (Melody), Douglas McDowell (Nenia), Patricia Ojeda (Robert), Daniel McDowell (Kristin) and Scott McDowell (Amanda); his grandchildren, David McDowell, Jason McDowell, Stephanie Clarke, Scott Braden, Jordan Ojeda, Brandon McDowell, Hannah Ojeda, Caleb Ojeda, Aaron Ojeda, Abigail McDowell, Kathryn McDowell, Conor McDowell and Sinead McDowell; and his sister-in-law Pat Dirosa. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, 18 nieces and nephews; and many friends.
