He is survived by: his children, Patricia M. Mahler (Daniel) of Grand Rapids, Brian A. Gavan of Wickenburg, AZ and Joseph P. Gavan (Susan) of Belmont; his grandsons, Jack E. and Charles P. Gavan; his stepgrandson Elliott J. Mahler of Los Angeles, CA; and his sister Alice C. O'Connor of Grand Rapids.
