He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard John Thaler and Bertha Thaler (Fausey); and his brothers, Gene and Gayle Thaler. He is survived by: his wife Susan Mae Price; his children, Curt Thaler (Tyesha) and Aimee Burns (Jason); and his grandchildren, Matthias, Abby (Colin Bisel), Arianna, Toby, Bethany, Rebecca and Caleb. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.
