He was predeceased by: his parents, Warner Scholten and Greta Scholten; and his grandson Julio Ortiz. He is survived by: his wife Helene; his children, Camie, Tim Sleeman, Mark, Denise Scholten, Caren and Rex Henning; his grandchildren, Teresa, Todd Wandell, Danielle Ortiz, Caleb, Samantha Sleeman, Isaiah, Jordyn Sleeman, Brittney, Justin Greenway, Levi, K. C. Scholten, Joshua Scholten, Bryce Henning, Bailey Henning and Breana Henning; and his siblings, John, Shirley Scholten, Harry, Colette Scholten, Vera and Robert Pike. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
