He is survived by: his wife Doris Marie Swanson; his children, Andy Swanson (Lisa), Tim Swanson (Carrie), Tom Swanson (Nickie) and Kathleen Marie Swanson Buzzitta (Steve Schmeling); his grandchildren, Lyndsey Schnieder (Brett), Brice Swanson (Stephanie), Christopher Swanson (Alisha), Candice Young (Brandon), Angel Newman (Ryan), Justin Hooker (Danielle), Nicolas Krieger (Lexi), Cody Swanson (Emily) and Lexi Ackerberg (Matt); his great grandchildren, Easton, Lyra Schnieder, Mia Hawley, Cayla, Maci Young, Natalie, Adam Swanson, Viola, Jace Hooker, Stella and Isabella Newman; his brothers, Col. Ronald Swanson (Janie) and Russell Swanson (Sharyn); and his siblings-in-law, Ronald Howard (Marion) and Lila Howard.
