He was predeceased by: his mother Virginia Staples (Spray); his brothers, Mark W. Staples Sr. and Stephen J Staples; and his brother-in-law Stephen Markucki. He is survived by: his parent Lynn Staples; his wife Laura; his children, Tyler Staples, Harrison Staples (MaryAnne Saladino), Olivia Faulkner (Sean) and Brent Verlin (Jennifer); his granddaughter Ellasyn Verlin; his sister Nancy Volosin (Nick); and his siblings-in-law, Susan Staples, Lisa Mitchell (John), Lynne Marr and Joel Markucki. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
