He is survived by: his wife Terri Lacy; his children, Shannon Flugstad (Joel) and Shawn O'Brien; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, William, Katherine and Annabelle Flugstad; and his siblings, Joseph, Colleen Baker (Mark), Maureen Fissolo (Michael), Eileen O'Brien (Michael Bird), Kathleen O'Brien-Streets (Mark), Patricia O'Brien, Mary McCoy (Daniel), Margaret O'Brien and Teresa O'Brien.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to organizations that reflect his lifelong commitment to service, including Marine Corps Reserves' Toys for Tots, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Corewell Health West Hospice.
