He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Duiven and Ruth Duiven; his son Steven; and his pets, Maggie, Jake, Jessie, Penny and Willie.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Duiven; his children, Matthew Duiven (Young Shin) and Sarah Kugler (David); his grandchildren, Jack, Lily Kugler, Noah, Christian and Eva Duiven; and his brother Frank Duiven (Lois). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
