He was predeceased by: his father Thomas. He is survived by: his mother Virginia Schmidt; his daughter Shannon (Kevin); his granddaughters, Angela Freeland (Travis), Tonya Parmentier (Brian), Holly Chipman (Kurt) and Margaret Penning (Bob); and his sons, Matt, Mark (Katie) and Chris (Missy).
