He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Nelson and Doris Nelson; and his son John Lee Nelson. He is survived by: his wife June Nelson; his daughter Sara Beduhn (Robert R.); and his brother Donald D. Nelson (Sherrie). He is also survived by several brother and sister-in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.
