Marilyn Joyce Rietberg Obituary
We bid farewell to Marilyn Joyce Rietberg of Grand Rapids, Michigan, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on September 8, 2025 at the age of 84. Marilyn touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Peter Buteyn and Jennie Buteyn (Schaaf); her sister Beverly Bierma; her brother-in-law Darrell Dalton; and her husband Wayne Rietberg.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Dan and Angela Rietberg (Andrew); her children, Phil, Autumn Rietberg (Lexi), Sheryl, Doug Baker (Hannah), Mark and Mirsada Rietberg (Ajla Rasidovic); her sisters, Lori LeFebre (Jim), Marge Petroelje (Dave), Jan Boyd (Roger), Carol Bosch (Ron) and Donna DeKryger (Malcolm); her brother-in-law Merle Bierma (Marge); and her sister Jean Garehan. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces, cousins, and many friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 12th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, September 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Neland Church (940 Neland Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49507). A graveside service was held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Woodlawn Cemetery (2530 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49507).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services for the Patient Assistance Fund and to Faith Hospice.
