He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertram Lanning and Ruby Lanning; and his sisters, Virginia Alexis, Louise Burris, Betty Downs, Arlene Yeaw, Lela Jeannot, Linda Steffes and Blanche Kuiper.
He is survived by: his wife Etsuko; his son Dan Lanning (Lois); his grandchildren, Elizabeth Lanning, Aaron Lanning (Alyse) and Alexander Lanning (Christine); his great grandchildren, Ayla, Azariah, Inaia and Acelin Lanning; Knox. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
