With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Mary Butts in Grand Rapids, Michigan, born in Baltimore, Maryland, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Mary left this world on September 5, 2025 at the age of 85, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Bill; her parents, Paul Roese and Mary Roese; and her sisters, Sharon and Judy Roese.
She is survived by: her children, De-De Mulligan, Joe Butts (Annette), Paul Butts and Mary Beth Stout (Randy); and her siblings, Dennis Roese and Laura Smith (Doug). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 12th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service (4291 Cascade Rd SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546). A celebration of life was held on Friday, September 12th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
