She was predeceased by: her husband Robert; her daughter Mary Bruggema; her parents, Edward Sweers and Frances Sweers; her brothers, James Sweers (Ruth), Willard Sweers (Ardith) and Kenneth Sweers (Marilyn); and her brother-in-law Loren DeGroot (Joy).
She is survived by: her children, Ed, Carol, Paul DeVries, Rob and Jill DeGroot; her son-in-law Marc Bruggema; her grandchildren, Tom, Alisha Bruggema, Dave, Megan Bruggema, Julia DeGroot, Anna DeGroot, Brent DeVries, Sheila, Nate Postmus, Ryan DeVries, Sarah, Alec Lueders, Rachel DeGroot and Ben DeGroot; and her great grandchildren, Brendon, Carter, Makenna, Emmett Bruggema, Ryker Bruggema and Wren Postmus.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Live Stream Rememebrance Church (4575 Remembrance Rd NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49534).
