It is with sadness that the passing of Matthew Hanlon (Grand Rapids, Michigan) is shared. Matthew, born on June 7, 1963, passed away on October 20, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He is survived by: his parents, Sean Hanlon and Ellen Hanlon; his siblings, Sean (Cathy), Allan (Janet), Brian (Michele), Andrew (Laura) and Maura; his children, Emily (Kenny), Liam (Maggie), Alice (Alberto), Kyle (Makayla) and Grace Edith Hanlon; the mother of his children Deborah; his significant other Mary Lerchen; Sam. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Heritage Life Story Funeral Homes (1833 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505). A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Robert's Church (6477 Ada Dr SE, Ada, MI 49301).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Guiding Light Mission, a cause that was personally meaningful to Matthew and reflected his commitment in service to others.
