He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Rooze and Betty Rooze (LaMore); his grandson Aaron Gootjes; his brothers-in-law, James and Thomas Bruinsma; and his niece Wendi Bruinsma.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Bruinsma; his daughters, Valerie Gootjes (Jeff) and Deborah Keefer (Kevin); his grandsons, Ethan Gootjes (Elizabeth Neiderheide) and Jared Gootjes; his sister Rebecca James (Duane); and his siblings-in-law, Ben (Pat), Bill Bruinsma (Rose) and Marcia Bruinsma.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Flat River Outreach ministries in Lowell, Michigan.
