With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia Jean Vander Laan (Grand Rapids, Michigan), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 30, 2025 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Eckhart and Evelyn Eckhart; and her grandmother Pat. She is survived by: her husband George VanderLaan; her friend Gennie; her sons, Tim (Barb) and Joel; her grandson Jonah; her siblings, Diane Sytsma (Jim) and Donald Eckhart (Beverly); her daughter Rachel VanderLaan; her grandchildren, Kaelyn and Seth VanderLaan; her siblings-in-law, Jim Sytsema, Gennie McClean (Gene), Lois Kooistra (Gary) and Kathie Kamps (Dave); and her siblings' children, Lorilee, Doyle, Jonah (Brenn), Ezra and Phoebe.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel (2800 Burton St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
